Bridges

In the event when you have missing teeth that needs to be replaced, dental bridge is one of the options.

We have several types of bridge available;
1) The fixed-fixed bridge
2) The fibre-reinforced-composite (FRC) bridge.

The fixed-fixed bridge is made up of porcelain fused to metal, zirconia or full porcelain. By nature, it is stronger and longer lasting compared to FRC bridge.

The adjacent teeth/tooth that supports the bridge will be trimmed like a crown. Once cemented, it is fixed permanently and the teeth feels like your own. A fixed-fixed bridge can last a lifetime with proper care and regular dental check-up.

Unlike fixed-fixed bridge, FRC bridge does not require the trimming of the adjacent like preparing a crown. A strand of fibre will be attached to the adjacent teeth by using composite and bonding agent (glue).

Then, a tooth will be created using composite (tooth-coloured filling material). This option requires little to no trimming of the adjacent teeth.

The advantage is it is more conservative and cheaper. The disadvantage is, it is not as strong and longer lasting like a fixed bridge. Hence, it is considered a semi-permanent option.
